Initial Situation

Telekom Tagungshotel conference centres are hotels specialised in providing seminar, conference and convention facilities. They are furnished with the latest media channels and communication equipment. Deutsche Telekom has a total of eight such centres throughout Germany. Naturally, technical equipment at the Tagungshotels should not be lacking in up-to-the-minute ICT features.

Requirements

For information purposes, the technical equipment at Telekom Tagungshotels had to be enhanced through the addition of a flexible and innovative multi-media system. The following requirements were paramount when selecting the appropriate partner:

• a problem-free, efficient system which did not require specialist knowledge
• fast and flexible customisation of information
• guaranteed reliability of the system in question
• assimilation of the Tagungshotel corporate design

Result

Four of Telekom’s eight Tagungshotels are now equipped with Macnetix editIT/ playIT software . Multimedia infotainment begins in the reception area where a 40” LCD NEC display allows guests to read general information about the hotel and to see details of the conferences and seminars being held in the building. The display indicates respective room numbers, seminar topics, lecturers and exhibitions. Another 40” screen provides the day’s news. Staff can deploy a wide range of formats such as PowerPoint, Mpegs, web sites and graphics to support the information display. playIT software ensures that presentation and image quality are top-notch. All information is maintained by conference centre staff using a PC editing station known as an editIT client, which allows for quick and easy updating. The entire gamut of media content can be controlled and applied across all display screens using this software. An xml interface to SIHOT hotel management software was also acquired, which allows existing schedules to be automatically imported by editIT and displayed on both screens. There is therefore no possibility of double-booking and significant employee time-savings can be achieved.
