Initial Situation

October 2010 saw not only the inauguration of a hotel, but also simultaneously the launch of a premium brand. Apart from a unique design, the aim was to primarily implement fresh and innovative ideas – even in the technical area – in the centrally located house with 293 rooms in all.

Requirements

It was important to find a reliable partner, who would undertake both the implementation of the digital signage as well as the equipment of the rooms with a modern multimedia system. Both the digital signage displays as well as the TV screens were intended to adapt to the design of the house seamlessly. Moreover, the systems were intended to be easy to operate and the menu navigation was supposed to be easy. Further requirements: One-stop competent service, central input of data, homogeneity of monitor walls.

Result

IPTV with PCTV in 293 Rooms

The rooms are furnished with a multimedia bar with two integrated TV screens. Whereas  IPTV with all its advantages (highest image quality, multi-language menu navigation, added value services) can be seen on one monitor, PCTV can be controlled on the second display with a full-fledged keyboard. Only the very best internet, Skype video conferences, the weather update or the newest video content on demand are available over here. Furthermore, it can be seen on the TV screen as to who is standing in front of the door. In doing so, the TV switches on automatically as soon as the bell rings and transmits into the room the recording of the camera installed outside.  Even the data of iPod, iPhone or iPad can be displayed on the display screen.

IPTV in the Fitness Area and in the Bar

In the fitness studio, four IPTV devices inform you about world events and namely in especially high quality. Just like the TV in front of the bar, which takes care of your best entertainment. Additionally, the high-value techno-gym fitness devices are equipped with IPTV. Thus, sports enthusiasts can watch TV or hear radio while training on the treadmill.

Special Feature: 3×4 Monitor Walls with 42” Display Screen by Philips

Two large monitor walls, each composed of four rows with three displays, serve as eye catchers both in the lobby as well as in the bar of the Dormero hotel. Here as well, the display screens are administered by means of editIT/playIT, with the possibility of supplying the screens together or individually with content. Whereas corporate images dominate in the lobby area, the wall in the bar has been used mainly to put people in the right mood: motion motifs such as e.g. fire and other motions can be seen on it. And if there are sufficient comrade-in-arms, the wall even functions as a Wii game pad. Apart from impeccable software, homogeneity is also an important consideration while choosing the monitors. This is assured through display screens by Philips.

Digital Signage in Lobby, Ballroom, Bar and in the Conference Area

The overall 75 displays are controlled via the digital signage software editIT/playIT by Macnetix. 25 display screens decorate the nearly 500 square metre large Dormero hall, which offers the suitable stage both for a gala dinner as well as for conferences. The monitors, which are stringed together to the right and the left on the walls, are used not only for company presentations but also as motion background to generate various moods. Even in the bar, the 42-inch screens, 20 pieces in number, serve to create the mood or to advertise for current cocktail offers. Further displays, both at the entrance to the Dormero hall as well as in the stair egress to the conference area, provide an overview of room occupancy and events, whereas the four monitors positioned at the individual conference rooms serve as door signage and inform about the events taking place inside.
