Initial Situation

6.000 participants from the food branch come to Neuwied every year for training and further education at the technical college for food. The food hotel is located right next to it, which not only wants to provide accommodation for guests from the sector, but also wants to position itself as worldwide first supermarket themed hotel. The innovative orientation of the house was to include the extraordinary design and also modern digital technology.

Requirements

Two systems were to be established in the food hotel: A digital signage system for the public area of the hotel, and an IPTV-system for the 115 rooms of the hotel. The themed rooms are the centres of attention here. Guests can stay in the tea, cheese or beer room, depending on which product is presented in the respective room. Next to the usage of various added value services, the system shall also enable an information channel that supports the presentation of the individual products. Further requirements: Both programs should be easily and intuitively operable.

Result

Ten digital monitors that decorate the public area of the food hotel are controlled by the  Macnetix-software editIT/playIT. Five of them, all 32-inch-screens, that are mounted at the reception and in front of the seminar room serve to welcome the guests and display announcements for current events. Company presentation or image movies can also be shown here. The other five displays are used as door signs that inform about the events taking place in the rooms. The innovative IPTV-HD by Macnetix was installed in all 115 rooms of the house. The digital multimedia television provides best entertainment and impresses with high image quality and a large program selection. Numerous added value services including individual menu guidance, multiple languages and Video – On – Demand- functions are further advantages that speak for using IPTV-HD.
